あらすじ
おそらく、ここで物語の冒頭とつながる。ポリーがお気に入りの店で記事を読んでいると、ある男が入店してきた。そして彼女が無意識にコメントした記事の内容について、突然くちをはさんだのだ。彼女は気を悪くして、その男が入店した時から気に食わなかったのだと心の中で思った。そして新聞越しに男を見て、その男の外見が彼女の好奇心をくすぐり、彼女は微笑んだ。
