アキノスケの夢（対訳）

Some days later Akinosuke was again summoned to the throne-room.

KWAIDAN

　何日か経って、アキノスケは再び王の間に呼ばれました。

On this occasion he was received even more graciously than before; and the King said to him:—

KWAIDAN

　この時、アキノスケは以前より更に丁重に迎えられました。王様がアキノスケに言いました。

"In the southwestern part of Our dominion there is an island called Raishu.

KWAIDAN

「我々の領土の南西地域にライシュという島があります」

We have now appointed you Governor of that island.

KWAIDAN

「我々はあなたをその島の統治者に任命しました」

You will find the people loyal and docile; but their laws have not yet been brought into proper accord with the laws of Tokoyo; and their customs have not been properly regulated.

KWAIDAN

「その島の人々は誠実で従順だということがわかるでしょう。しかし、彼らはトコヨの法律にまだ馴染んでいません。彼らの風習は完全に統制されているわけではないのです」

We entrust you with the duty of improving their social condition as far as may be possible; and We desire that you shall rule them with kindness and wisdom.

KWAIDAN

「我々はあなたに任せます。可能な限り彼らの社会状況を改善してください。あなたが彼らを思いやりと知恵で統治することを望みます」

All preparations necessary for your journey to Raishu have already been made."

KWAIDAN

「ライシュへの旅に必要な準備は既に整っています」
