あらすじ
風刺漫画雑誌によって有名になった弊害で、私はボロを着て買い物をして百万ポンドを見せて店員を驚かすという娯楽ができなくなった。
それから１０日ほど経った頃、私は自国の公使に遭難の経緯を知らせに行った。その人と話し合ううちに、ひょんなことから、彼が私の父親の親友だったことがわかった。
