あらすじ

　食べ物が偽物だったので、二匹のネズミは暴れまわった。そして魚を燃やそうとしたのだが、火もまた偽物だった。

THE TALE OF TWO BAD MICE

　トム・サムとハンカ・マンカの怒りと落胆は収まりませんでした。

They broke up the pudding, the lobsters, the pears and the oranges.

THE TALE OF TWO BAD MICE

　彼らはプディング、ロブスター、豆とオレンジを粉々にしました。

As the fish would not come off the plate, they put it into the red-hot crinkly paper fire in the kitchen; but it would not burn either.

　魚が皿から外れなかったので、彼らはキッチンにあった真っ赤な紙製の火の中にそれを入れました。
　しかし、魚も皿も燃えませんでした。

Tom Thumb went up the kitchen chimney and looked out at the top—there was no soot.

While Tom Thumb was up the chimney, Hunca Munca had another disappointment.

She found some tiny canisters upon the dresser, labelled—Rice—Coffee—Sago—but when she turned them upside down, there was nothing inside except red and blue beads.
